M1 frustration…
Oh god... I can't hit another F#4 again... please... (share your stories of something from the infamous baritone curse!)
I was always doing vocal improvs and runs before I started singing actual karaokes.
I did the improvs so much because I was subconsciously avoiding getting to the dreaded ... karaokes
Sure, they inspire me to sing. But the songs that inspire me to sing... are tenor songs.
So I'd just do improvs and runs and have fun like that, trying to get higher and higher
Everytime (well, 2 days out of the week) I was like 'damn! I must be singing so high right now!'
My mood got instantly fixed. Seriously.
Then I went, all happy, to check on my vocal pitch monitor app and boom:
I was stuck at the F#4 again.
The super high notes I thought I was doing were... again... my usual limit.
5 years later that's still the note I switch at. Gives me PTSD lol.
Is there 'that' song that always keeps you moving forward?
For me it was always high songs but one really took the cake since the beginning.
It's awesome to see how at some point (10 years ago) it was literally impossible for me to even tackle it and then 5 years later it was beginning to take shape! (Bohemian Rhapsody for me). I'd say I didn't 'master it' (and I only mean the ballad part 😂) with full 100% consistency and even an ability to do it without distortion too (ifykyk) until 1-2 months ago. Slow learner.
Or all bad coaches 😜
I'm guilty of the same too, but at points it gets ridiculous because you see comments like "you didn't do *that* part *exactly* like the singer" and I'm sincerely like... huh, what?

Is there hope?
So I bought instant mixed voice and the science of mixed voice yesterday. I’ve studied and practiced SLS for a few years now and I just feel like it’s not clicking.
Is there hope for my singing? Thanks

ok so this is M1.7?
