Why the hell do people subconsciously expect all covers to sound exactly like the original?

I'm guilty of the same too, but at points it gets ridiculous because you see comments like "you didn't do *that* part *exactly* like the singer" and I'm sincerely like... huh, what?

I think that the opinion "you don't sound like the original" tends to come from people that doesn't know a thing about music.

Musicians tend to analyze the approach, the sound, the technique, and may like it or not, but generally understands what a COVER is, most people that doesn't know shit about mussic think that if you make a cover you are trying to sound like the original and totally miss the point.
