I have had soooooo many vocal coaches. some of them pissed me off so much. Could never figure it out. I started to think there was something wrong with me and my voice. Anyone else have this experience? constantly either gaslighting myself or being gaslight by the teacher.

yeah totally, my first vocal teacher was constantly telling me that I should quit trying to sing high stuff because "that was not my correct tessitura" whatever the fuck that means for them, I was like fuck it my bro chris cornell did it just by experimenting with his voice and making the right sounds, so I quit the lessons instead!

They pissed me off mainly because they expected me to trust them (and that I'd start seeing results) even though there was never any actual evidence of that. This indeed drives one to gaslighting oneself. It sucked. I believe they are just not brave, humble (or detached enough from securing an easy $) to admit they can't help with certain situations.
How did they drive you to gaslighting yourself?
